Cars are equipped with two types of belts - with inertial reels and without them. In the first case, the belts do not require length adjustment, and in the second case, adjustment is necessary. The length of the belt should be such that the palm can easily pass between the chest and the diagonal strap 2 (Fig. 18), and the waist strap 4 fits tightly to the hips. The length of the belt is changed by regulator 3.
Fig. 18. Seat belt:
1 - overlay; 2 - diagonal strap; 3 - regulator; 4 - waist strap; 5 - tongue; 6 - button; 7 - castle
To fasten the seat belts, insert tongue 5 into buckle 7 until it clicks, without allowing the straps to twist. Do not fasten a seat belt to a child sitting on a passenger's lap.
To unfasten the belt, press the button 6 of the lock. For belts without inertia reels, after unfastening, insert the tongue 5 into the pocket of the pad 1.
If the straps become dirty, clean them with a mild soap solution. Do not iron the straps.
The belt must be replaced with a new one if it has been subjected to a critical load in a traffic accident or has abrasions, tears or other damage.
