We remove the trunk lid for replacement, as well as for body work on the rear part of the body.
An assistant will be needed to complete the job.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the lock and cylinder (see "Trunk lid lock and lock cylinder - removal and installation").
3. With a socket wrench by 10 mm we unscrew the two nuts on one side that secure the trunk lid to the body hinges.

4. Holding the trunk lid, on the other side, unscrew the remaining two nuts securing it and remove the trunk lid.

Installation
1. Install the trunk lid on the hinges without completely tightening the nuts that secure it to the hinges.
2. Close the lid and make sure the gaps are uniform. Carefully open the lid and finally tighten the nuts.
3. If necessary, adjust the position of the lock retainer,
loosening with a socket or open-end wrench by 10 mm two bolts for fastening the retainer. By moving the retainer left and right, we achieve a tight closure of the lid with uniform gaps around the perimeter. Tighten the bolts.
