Timing Chain Tensioner — Replacement (VAZ-2107)

The damper is installed on the left in the front part of the cylinder head. We demonstrate the operation using a carburetor engine as an example.

Removal

1. Prepare the vehicle for operations (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the cylinder head cover (see "Cylinder Head Cover Gasket - Replacement").

3. Holding the chain guide, use a 10 mm socket wrench to unscrew the two bolts securing the guide to the cylinder head.

4. Remove the damper.

Installation

Installation of all removed parts is carried out in reverse order.

When installing the chain guide, pay attention to the fact that the bolt for its upper mounting is longer than the bolt for its lower mounting.
