Engine Oil — Checking Level and Replacing (VAZ-2107)

            0

Contents: Checking the level ↓ Replacement ↓
The oil level should be checked with the engine off, at least 5 minutes after it has been stopped, and with the vehicle on a horizontal surface.

Checking the level

1. Prepare the vehicle for operations (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the oil level indicator (dipstick) from the guide tube, wipe it with a clean rag and install it into the tube until it stops.

2. Remove the oil level indicator (dipstick) from the guide tube, wipe it with a clean rag and…

3. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil film level on the indicator, which should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks.

3. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil film level on the indicator, which should be between…

Attention! Exceeding the oil level in the engine crankcase above the "MAX" mark may lead to its leakage through the seals, gaskets and crankcase ventilation system.

If oil gets into the combustion chamber of a vehicle with a catalytic converter, it can cause it to fail.

4. If the oil level is close to the "MIN" mark, add the oil recommended by the manufacturer (see "Applications").

Caution! The oil level gauge has an engine marking. Do not use a gauge with a different marking.

Replacement

To perform the work, you will need a container for draining the oil with a capacity of at least 4 liters.

It is recommended to change the oil when the engine is warm.

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the oil filler cap.

2. Remove the oil filler cap.

3. On car with injection system remove the air filter housing (see "Air filter housing - removal and installation").

Note: According to the maintenance schedule, it is necessary to flush the engine lubrication system every 30,000 km. To do this, drain the old oil without unscrewing the oil filter. Fill with flushing oil up to the "MIN" mark on the dipstick, start the engine and let it idle for about 10 minutes (see flushing oil manufacturer's recommendations). Drain the flushing oil and replace the oil filter. Fill the engine with motor oil to the required level.

4. With a hex key by 12 mm we unscrew the drain plug of the oil pan.

7. Clean the threads of the drain plug and screw the plug back in.

8. Pour fresh oil into the new filter and lubricate the rubber gasket with it.

9. Screw the filter onto the fitting and after the gasket touches the block mating ring, turn the filter an additional 3/4 turn.

10. Fill the engine with fresh oil (see "Applications").

11. After waiting 2-3 minutes, remove the dipstick and check the oil level.

12. Install the oil filler cap.

13. Start the engine for a few minutes, then stop it and check the oil level and the absence of leaks from under the filter gasket and drain plug.
