Replacing steering column switches (VAZ-21061)

The car uses a three-lever steering column switch mounted on the steering column. The turn signal, headlight, and wiper/washer mode switches have a common housing.

Remove the steering wheel (see Removal and installation the steering wheel).



Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws that hold the halves of the steering column cover together on both sides...



…and one screw securing the bottom half to the column.



We remove the upper and lower halves of the casing...



Remove the instrument cluster (see Removal the instrument cluster).

Inside the instrument panel, we disconnect the connecting blocks of the harness supplying voltage to the steering column switches..



…eight-, six- and two-slot.



We take them out from below the dashboard.



Using an 8 mm spanner, loosen the bolt securing the steering column switches...




…and remove them together with the wiring harness from the steering column, moving them upward along the axis.

We install new steering column switches in the reverse order of removal.



When installing the steering column covers, do not forget to put the rubber ring on the ignition switch.

Attention! When laying the wire harnesses in the lower casing, be sure to make sure that they do not touch the steering shaft.
