Tensioning the timing chain (VAZ-2107)

Adjust the tension of timing chain 2 (Fig. 30) every 10,000 km. To do this, loosen locking nut 7 and turn the crankshaft 1–1.5 turns in the direction of its rotation. In this case, plunger spring 10 acts on shoe 6 through plunger 11 and automatically sets the required chain tension. Tighten nut 7 after adjustment. Adjustment is also performed when increased noise occurs in the operation of the timing drive.
