1. Prepare the vehicle for operations (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Use a rag to clean off any dirt and wash the outer surface of the fuel pump with white spirit or engine cleaner.
3. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the bolt securing the top cover of the fuel pump.
4. Remove the cover and take out the filter.
5. Wash the filter with carburetor cleaner or acetone and blow it out with compressed air.
6. Install the filter and assemble the fuel pump in the reverse order.
