The exhaust system consists of a receiving pipe, additional and main mufflers. The receiving pipe flange is attached to the exhaust manifold with four studs with brass or copper-plated steel nuts. The nuts are fixed in pairs with locking plates to prevent unscrewing. The connection between the manifold and the receiving pipe is sealed with a reinforced metal-asbestos gasket. The receiving pipe is additionally secured with a clamp to the bracket on the gearbox.
The additional muffler is a structure consisting of a front and rear muffler. On the VAZ-21063 car, the additional muffler consists only of a rear muffler and is marked 2101-1201005-01. The pipe of the front muffler is put on the inlet pipe, and the rear one is inserted into the pipe of the main muffler. The joints are fixed with clamps.
The main muffler is suspended from the underbody brackets on two rubber straps with hooks and a cushion.
