Details of the exhaust system of a car with a carburetor engine: 1 - bolt M4x45 cushion (15891211); 2 - muffler suspension cushion (2101-1203072); 3 - main muffler (2106-1201005); 4 - muffler suspension belt (2101-1203047); 5 - bolt M8x75 of the clamp (16044721); 6 - tension clamp (2101-1203032); 7 - bolt M8x80 clamp (16044821); 8 - tension clamp (2101-1203031); 9 - nut for fastening the inlet pipe (21081203019); 10 - locking plate (2121-1203075); 11 - gasket of the inlet pipe (2103-1203020); 12 - intake pipe (2101-1203010-10); 13 - additional muffler (2103-1202005); 14 - bolt M8x30 for the intake pipe mounting clamp (16043821); 15 - Clamp for fastening the inlet pipe (2101-1203043)
The exhaust system consists of a receiving pipe, additional and main mufflers. The receiving pipe flange is attached to the exhaust manifold with four studs with brass or copper-plated steel nuts. The nuts are fixed in pairs with locking plates to prevent unscrewing. The connection between the manifold and the receiving pipe is sealed with a reinforced metal-asbestos gasket. The receiving pipe is additionally secured with a clamp to the bracket on the gearbox.
The additional muffler is a structure consisting of a front and rear muffler. The pipe of the front muffler is put on the inlet pipe, and the rear one is inserted into the pipe of the main muffler. The joints are fixed with clamps.
The main muffler is suspended from the underbody brackets on two rubber straps with hooks and a cushion.
The distinctive features of the exhaust system of cars with an injection engine are:
- installation of a receiving pipe with a flange for fastening to the neutralizer;
- the presence of a welded threaded sleeve in the intake pipe, in which an oxygen concentration sensor is installed (lambda probe);
- installation of a catalytic converter with a metal carrier instead of the front additional muffler;
- installation of an additional muffler, to the end of the front pipe of which a flange is welded.
To compensate for bending loads during movements of the power unit, the catalytic converter flange is attached to the lower flange of the intake pipe by means of a toroidal metal-graphite ring and spring-loaded bolts.
The surface of the neutralizer becomes very hot during engine operation, so a heat shield is installed above the neutralizer to protect the underbody.
Attention! Work related to repair or replacement of the exhaust system must be performed only after its parts have cooled down.
