Parking brake — adjustment (VAZ-2107)

If the parking brake system does not hold the vehicle on a 25% slope when the drive lever is moved by 4-6 teeth of the ratchet device, then it is necessary to adjust the stroke of the parking brake drive lever.

Sequence of execution

1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Move the parking brake lever to the lower position.

3. We hang up the rear axle (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair") and remove the rear wheels.

4. Using a 13 mm wrench, loosen the lock nut while holding the adjusting nut with a wrench of the same size.



5. Holding the end of the front cable with pliers, use a 13 mm wrench to turn the adjusting nut clockwise to increase the cable tension or counterclockwise to decrease it (see below "Parking brake system - disassembly and assembly"), achieving the required travel of the parking brake drive lever.

6. Turn the rear wheels. They should rotate freely, without jamming.

7. Tighten the lock nut, holding the adjusting nut from turning.
