To carry out the work, you will need an assistant, as well as a special wrench for 10 mm for brake pipes, a transparent vinyl pipe of a suitable diameter, a container for draining brake fluid, fresh brake fluid (see "Operating fluids").
Removing
1. We prepare the car for operations (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the brake drum (see "Rear wheel brake pads - replacement").
3. We clean the bolts of the working cylinder and the fitting of the brake pipe from dirt. We apply a penetrating lubricant with a rust converter to them.
4. Using a special 10 mm wrench for brake pipes, unscrew the pipe fitting.
Attention! If fitting "stuck" to the tube and you can’t turn it off, try (after the execution of paragraph 6) unscrew the cylinder, holding the fitting with a special 10 mm wrench for brake pipes. With this method of removing the cylinder, the brake pipe must be replaced.
5. To reduce the loss of brake fluid, put a protective cap on the end of the tube (from the brake cylinder bleeder).
6. Using a 10 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two bolts securing the working cylinder and remove it.
7. By turning the cylinder relative to the hole in the brake shield, we disengage the cylinder stops from the brake shoes.
8. Remove the working cylinder of the rear wheel from the brake shield.
Installation
1. Install the working cylinder in reverse order.
2. Before installing a new cylinder with sliding pliers, we sink its pistons to the stop.
Attention! When installing the cylinder stops in the shoes, do not damage the rubber protective anthers of the cylinder.
3. Before fixing the cylinder with bolts on the brake shield, we screw the tube fitting into the cylinder by hand.
4. Finally wrap the fitting.
5. After installing the brake drum, we pump the brake hydraulic drive from the side of the replaced cylinder (see "Hydraulic brakes - pumping and replacing brake fluid").
