Description of the design of the VAZ-2106 car (VAZ-2106)

The section covers the design, maintenance and repair of the rear-wheel drive vehicle BA3-2106 and its modifications (VAZ-21061, VAZ-21063, VAZ-21065) with carburetor engines of models 2106, 2103 and 21011.

The VAZ-2106 is a passenger car, five-seater, four-door, with an all-metal load-bearing sedan body.

The engine is located longitudinally in the front of the car. The clutch drive is hydraulic. The gearbox is mechanical, three-shaft, five-speed or four-speed (on early production cars).

Torque from the gearbox to the rear drive axle is transmitted via a two-shaft cardan transmission.

The front suspension is independent, multi-link. The rear suspension is dependent, with a rigid beam connected to the body by one transverse and four longitudinal reaction rods.

The vehicle's service brake system is a dual-circuit hydraulic drive with a vacuum booster. The front wheel brakes are disc brakes, while the rear ones are drum brakes. The parking brake is a manual brake with a cable drive to the rear wheel brakes.
