To complete the job you will need a special syringe.
Checking the oil level
1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Using a steel brush and rag, clean the filler and drain plugs, as well as the surface of the crankcase near the plugs, from dirt.
3. Key by 17 mm unscrew the filler plug.
4. Using a screwdriver or other suitable object, check the oil level, which should reach the lower edge of the hole.
5. If the oil level is lower than required, add oil using a special syringe and tighten the plug.
If the oil level drops significantly, check the condition of the gearbox shaft seals. No oil drops are allowed on the crankcase, but oil sweating is acceptable, which is not a sign of damage to the seals. Check the fastening of the gearbox housing covers and, if necessary, tighten the nuts. If the oil leak does not stop, replace the gaskets and/or seals (see "Gearbox - disassembly and assembly").
Oil change
To perform the work, you will need a container for draining used oil with a capacity of at least 2 liters.
The oil should be changed immediately after the trip, as hot oil drains faster and more completely along with the particles suspended in it.
Warning! Oil temperature can reach 90°C, be careful.
1. Unscrew the filler plug (see above).
2. Place a container under the drain hole.
3. Hexagon by 12 mm unscrew the drain plug.
4. Drain the oil into a prepared container.
5. Clean the plug and put it back in place.
Note: If the drained oil is dark in color and metal particles are clearly visible in it, it is recommended to flush the gearbox.
To do this, pour 1 liter of a mixture of transmission oil and kerosene in a 1:1 ratio into the box and screw in the filler plug. Engage neutral gear and start the engine. After 3-5 minutes of idling, turn the engine off, drain the flushing mixture, clean and screw in the drain plug.
6. Fill the gearbox with fresh transmission oil up to the level of the lower edge of the filler hole (see "Applications") and screw on the cap (see above).
