Examination
1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Clean the place where the switch is attached and the switch itself from dirt.
3. Disconnect the wire blocks from the switch terminals.
4. Turn on the reverse gear. Connect the ohmmeter to the switch terminals.
If the resistance tends to infinity, the switch is faulty.
Removal
1. With a spanner by 27 mm we turn off the switch.
2. Remove the switch. The connection between the switch and the gearbox is sealed with a copper washer.
Installation
1. Replace the sealing washer with a new one.
2. The switch is installed in the reverse order.
3. After connecting the wires to the switch terminals, apply plastic grease to them to protect them from water and dirt.
