Checking the oil level
1. We install the car on a viewing hole or overpass (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. With a steel brush and rags, we clean the filler and drain plugs from dirt, as well as the crankcase surface near the plugs.
3. Key at 17 mm unscrew the filler plug.
4. Using a screwdriver or other suitable object, check the oil level, which should reach the lower edge of the hole.
5. If the oil level is less than required, add oil with a special syringe and wrap the plug.
With a strong drop in the oil level, we check the condition of the gearbox shaft seals. It is not allowed to have drops of oil on the crankcase, but oil sweating is acceptable, which is not a sign of damage to the seals. We check the fastening of the gearbox housing covers and, if necessary, tighten the nuts. If the oil leak does not stop, replace the gaskets and / or seals (see "Gearbox - disassembly and assembly").
Change of oil
To perform the work, you will need a container for collecting used oil with a volume of at least 2 liters.
Oil should be changed immediately after a trip, hot oil drains faster and more completely, along with particles suspended in it.
Attention! The oil temperature can reach 90°C, be careful.
1. Unscrew the filler plug (see above).
2. We substitute a container under the drain hole.
3. Hexagon at 12 mm unscrew the drain plug.
4. Drain the oil into a prepared container.
5. We clean the plug and install it in place.
Note. If the drained oil has a dark color and metal particles are clearly visible in it, it is recommended to flush the gearbox.
To do this, fill the box with 1 liter of a mixture of gear oil and kerosene in a ratio of 1: 1 and wrap the filler plug. Shift into neutral and start the engine. After 3-5 minutes of engine idling, turn it off, drain the flushing mixture, clean and wrap the drain plug.
6. Pour fresh gear oil into the box to the level of the lower edge of the filler hole (see "Applications") and wrap the cork (see above).
