Possible malfunctions of the windshield wiper (VAZ-21051)

Cause	Method of elimination
The wiper motor does not work, the bimetallic fuse does not operate and fuse 2 in the mounting block does not blow
The power supply wires of the gear motor are damaged, the wire tips in the connecting blocks are oxidized	Check the wires, replace damaged ones. Strip the tips
The wiper switch is damaged	Replace the three-lever switch
Sticking of the electric motor brushes, heavy contamination or burning of the commutator	Check, fix stuck brushes or replace damaged parts; clean the manifold
Broken wires connecting the electric motor brushes to the wiring block	Check and solder broken wires if necessary
The thermal bimetallic fuse in the gear motor is damaged	Clean the contacts of the thermal bimetallic fuse or replace it
Broken wire in the armature winding of an electric motor	Replace the anchor or gear motor
Wiper motor does not work, bimetallic fuse trips or fuse 2 in the mounting block blows
The wiper mechanism levers are deformed and touch the body parts	Check, straighten the levers or replace the wiper
The brushes are frozen to the glass	Remove the brushes from the glass, being careful not to damage the rubber strip
A foreign object has entered the cleaner mechanism	Check, remove the item
Short circuit in the armature winding of the electric motor	Replace the gear motor or the motor armature
The cleaner does not work in intermittent mode
The wiper switch is damaged	Replace the three-lever switch
The wiper relay is damaged:
- break in the relay winding	- replace the relay
- short circuit of wires on the contact stand	- eliminate the short circuit
– gap between the contacts of the relay breaker	– eliminate the gap, replace the relay if necessary
The cleaner does not stop in intermittent mode
The winding of the breaker in the wiper relay has burned out	Replace the wiper relay
The cam of the gear motor does not bend the spring plate of the limit switch	Bend the switch plate so that the cam bends the plate
Contamination of the contacts of the limit switch in the gear motor	Clean the contacts of the limit switch
Contamination of the breaker contacts in the wiper relay	Clean the breaker contacts or replace the relay
The wiper motor is working, the brushes are not moving
The gear teeth of the gear motor are broken	Replace the gear
Weak crank mount on gear motor shaft	Check, tighten the crank fastening nut, setting it in the final position
