The upper part of the steering control, located in the car's interior, is covered with removable plastic covers.
Steering parts: 1 - outer side tie rod end (2101-3003057); 2 - adjusting coupling (2101-3003054); 3 - left side tie rod end, inner (2101-3003064); 4 - filler plug 22x1.5 conical (14324111); 5 - protective cap of the adjusting screw; 6 - average thrust (2101-3003050); 7 - steering shaft (2103-3401160); 8 - nut M16x1.5 low (10791411); 9 - right side tie rod end, inner (2101-3003050); 10 - pendulum lever with bracket (2101-3003080); 11 - Upper support pipe of the steering shaft; 12 - bolt (2101-3401155), nut M10x1.25 self-locking (12574511), washer 10 (23767491); 13 - steering wheel (2107-3402015); 14 - steering shaft bracket (2101-3403010); 15 - nut M8 (16100811), spring washer 8 (10516670), washer (12646701); 16 - bolt M8x35 (16043821), spring washer 8 (10516670), washer (10519601); 17 - steering gear reducer (2101-3400010)
Steering wheel secured with a nut to the tapered splines of the steering shaft. Steering shaft mounted in the shaft mounting bracket tube on two needle bearings. The bracket is secured with four nuts on bolts welded to the body.
Steering gear reducer is secured to the left side member in the engine compartment with three bolts. To ensure the alignment of the gearbox shaft and the steering shaft, adjusting washers are installed between the side member and the gearbox. The clearance in the engagement of the worm with the double-ridge roller installed on the pitman shaft can be adjusted. The adjusting screw is installed in the upper cover of the gearbox housing. The gear ratio of the worm pair is 16.4. About 0.2 l of transmission oil is poured into the gearbox housing. For this purpose, there is a filler hole in the upper cover, closed with a plug. There is no drain hole; during operation, oil is only added when necessary.
Steering drive consists of a middle rod, two side rods, a pendulum arm and steering knuckles. The middle rod, which pivotally connects the reduction gear pitman arm and the pendulum arm, is non-separable. The side steering rods pivotally connect the reduction gear pitman arm and the pendulum arm with the steering knuckle arms. Each side steering rod consists of two ends, external and internal. The shanks of both ends have right-hand and left-hand threads and are connected to each other by a split adjusting coupling. The adjusting coupling of the rod is made with an internal thread, by rotating the coupling the length of the rods and, accordingly, the toe-in angle of the wheels changes. The outer ends of the side rods are interchangeable. The ball joints of the steering rods are non-separable, covered with mudguards. The pin of the ball joint is a rod with a conical surface, on one end of which there is a spherical head, and on the other a thread is cut. The pendulum arm with the bracket is attached with two bolts to the right side member of the car. The axis of the arm rotates in two polyurethane bushings inserted into the bores of the bracket body.
The maximum angle of rotation of the front wheels is limited by the stop of the bipod protrusions against the gearbox housing.
