Solenoid valve — checking and replacement (VAZ-2106)

If the electromagnetic valve is faulty, the engine stalls when the gas pedal is released and when the carburetor air damper is fully open. The malfunction can also be caused by disconnecting the wire from the valve output.

To complete the work you will need a 70 cm long piece of electrical wire.

Examination

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the air filter housing (see "Air filter housing - removal and installation").

3. Disconnect the wire tip from the valve terminal.



4. Using a piece of wire, connect the valve terminal to the positive terminal of the battery. A working valve should click with a characteristic click. Replace the faulty valve.

Removal

1. Key by 13 mm having loosened the tightening, we unscrew the faulty valve.

Note: For replacement, it is possible to use a solenoid valve from another carburetor model, installing an idle fuel jet from a faulty valve on it, after washing it in acetone and blowing it out with compressed air.

2. Remove the jet by hand or, if difficult, with pliers, carefully clamping it through a sheet of paper.

Installation

1. Install the new valve by screwing it into the carburetor by hand. The rubber sealing ring of the valve should be elastic and without damage.

2. Start the engine. If the engine runs unevenly or stalls at idle, the valve and carburetor connection may not be tight. In this case, tighten the valve with a wrench.
