Removing
1. We prepare the car for operations (see "Vehicle preparation for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the steering column switch (see "Paddle switches - removal and installation").
3. Disconnect the block of wires from the ignition switch (see "Switch (lock) ignition - removal and installation, check and replacement of the contact group").
4. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the universal joint of the intermediate shaft to the gearbox shaft, holding the bolt from turning with a wrench of the same size. Remove the bolt from the universal joint yoke.
5. Sliding pliers unscrew the two bolts (with tear-off heads) shaft bracket mounting.
Remove fixing plates.
6. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the two nuts securing the upper steering shaft bracket.
7. Remove the steering shaft assembly, removing the universal joint yoke of the intermediate shaft from the splines.
8. Using a 13 mm socket wrench, unscrew the nut securing the steering gear intermediate shaft bolt to the upper shaft, holding the bolt from turning with a wrench of the same size. We take out the bolt and disconnect the intermediate shaft from the upper shaft.
9. Remove the ignition switch (see "Switch (lock) ignition - removal and installation, check and replacement of the contact group").
Installation
1. Install the ignition switch on the bracket.
2. Before installing the steering shaft, slightly push the universal joints of the intermediate shaft with a chisel or a large screwdriver.
3. We connect the intermediate shaft to the upper shaft, install the bolt in the hole of the universal joint fork and tighten the bolt nut.
4. We put the universal joint yoke of the intermediate shaft on the splines of the gearbox shaft (if necessary, tapping on the end of the upper shaft with a hammer).
5. Install the bolt in the hole of the universal joint fork, tighten the nut.
6. Further installation is carried out in reverse order.
