General recommendations for vehicle operation (VAZ-2107)

            0

Please read this manual carefully before operating your vehicle.

Compliance with the rules below will contribute to a more complete manifestation of the vehicle's performance qualities and ensure its long-term operation. The car is easy to drive, has high dynamic and speed qualities. However, do not rush to fully use these qualities until you gain confidence in its driving and adapt to its "character".

Do not exceed the vehicle load specified in the manual. Overloading will damage the front suspension components, bend the rear axle beam, cause premature tire wear, cause body vibration, and cause the vehicle to lose stability. The load weight with the roof rack installed on the vehicle should not exceed 50 kg.

The soft suspension of the car is not designed for fast driving on uneven roads, as sharp impacts can deform the compression buffer bracket, the axles of the lower arms and the arms themselves. These deformations - the result of careless driving - increase the suspension travel beyond the permissible value and lead to the destruction of ball joints and arms.

Regularly check the condition of the ball joint protective rubber boots and the steering rod joint protective caps. If the boot or cap is damaged, water and dirt will penetrate the joint, causing increased wear and tear. Replace a damaged boot or cap with a new one immediately.

For lubrication of the engine, gearbox and rear axle, use only oils recommended by the manufacturer (see appendix 3). The use of other oils will lead to premature failure of these units.

The car engine is designed to use gasoline with an octane rating of at least 93. Using the engine on gasoline with an octane rating below 93 will result in its failure.

AI-93 gasoline, colored orange-red, is leaded. Leaded gasoline is poisonous. Therefore, do not allow it to come into contact with the skin of your hands, clothing, or upholstery. It is especially unacceptable to perform any operations that could result in leaded gasoline or its vapors getting into the oral cavity.

It is forbidden to move the car from a place using the starter. Start the car movement only in first gear.

If the engine does not start after turning the starter on three times, check the serviceability of the power supply or ignition system and eliminate the cause that prevents the engine from starting.

Do not engage the starter while the engine is running. This may cause damage to the pinion gear teeth or flywheel.

Never allow the engine to run at a speed where the tachometer needle is in the red zone of the scale. A tachometer needle in the yellow zone signals that the crankshaft speed is approaching the maximum permissible (beginning of the red zone).

Remember that exhaust gases are poisonous. Therefore, the room in which the engine is started and warmed up must be well ventilated.

Do not operate the vehicle with the low oil pressure indicator light on. The light may come on at minimum crankshaft speed in idle mode. When the speed increases, the light should go out. Lighting of the light in operating engine modes indicates insufficient pressure in the lubrication system.

Do not forget to check the tire pressure, as using tires with pressure different from the recommended one leads to their premature wear, as well as to deterioration of the stability and control of the car.

Before starting to move, check the position of the parking brake lever - start moving only with the lever fully lowered.

Do not turn off the ignition or put the key in position III ("Park") while the vehicle is moving. When the engine stops, the brake booster is switched off and the force required to apply to the brake pedal to brake the vehicle increases. In addition, when the key is turned to position III, the steering shaft may be blocked by the anti-theft device and the vehicle will become uncontrollable.

In the event of failure of one of the brake system circuits, the second circuit provides braking of the vehicle.

In this case, the brake pedal travel increases and the braking efficiency decreases, which at first may be assessed by you as a complete brake failure. In this case, do not release the pedal and do not press it multiple times, which only increases the time and distance of braking, but press the pedal until you get the maximum possible braking effect.

Never leave the ignition on for a long time when the engine is not running. This will discharge the battery and damage the electrical circuit components of the ignition system.

For normal operation of the lighting and signaling system, use the lamps specified in appendix 2.

To avoid damaging the generator:
  • when installing the battery in the vehicle, make sure that the wires are connected in accordance with the polarity indicated on their ends and the battery terminals (the positive terminal is larger than the negative one). The battery must be connected to the generator terminal "30" only with the positive wire (the "+" end);
  • when charging the battery directly on the vehicle from an external power source, be sure to disconnect it from the generator;
  • do not operate the generator unless the battery is connected to its "30" terminal;
  • do not check the generator's performance by short-circuiting its terminal "30" to ground or to terminal "B" of the electronic voltage regulator (in order to check for a "spark").

Remember that oxidation of the terminals and clamps of the battery, as well as their careless connection, causes sparking at the point of unreliable contact, which can lead to failure of the electronic equipment of the car. Therefore, constantly monitor the cleanliness of the terminals and clamps and the reliability of their fastening. For the same purpose, it is not allowed to check the generator's operability with the engine running and by removing the terminal from the battery.

Avoid opening the doors abruptly at the end of their travel. Do not leave the doors open when stopped in strong winds to avoid deformation of the front edges of the doors.

Do not attempt to open locked rear doors from the inside without lifting the door lock buttons. Otherwise, you may damage the handles and their drives (see section "Doors").

In winter, when a layer of ice or snow on the sliding windows makes it difficult to move them, do not apply excessive force when turning the handle, so as not to damage the window lift mechanism. Remember that the rear door windows do not lower completely.

The number plate lights are located in the trunk lid, so it is not permitted to transport loads in the trunk at night that do not allow the lid to be closed.

The reliability of your vehicle depends on compliance with the operating rules and on compliance with the frequency and completeness of the maintenance operations specified in the service book.

The plant recommends that maintenance be carried out at stations that perform maintenance and warranty repairs of AvtoVAZ vehicles. The stations have the necessary spare parts, special equipment and tools. The work is carried out by experienced specialists. The addresses of the stations are given in the service book.

If the frequency of maintenance of vehicle components and assemblies specified in the manual and service book do not match, then the instructions in the service book should be followed.

To replace parts during repairs, use only spare parts supplied for sale to specialized stores or service stations. The plant does not accept orders for spare parts.

Upon receipt of notification of an unscheduled inspection (repair) initiated by the plant, you are required to contact the specified CAC (service station) to see the warranty engineer and carry out his instructions.

To maintain an attractive appearance, increase the durability of the body and maintain the reliability of the car, the plant recommends that you constantly use the specified appendix 3 car care products manufactured by Soyuzbytkhim enterprises.
