Removal
1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").
2. Clean the nuts and covers of the steering rod from dirt.
3. Apply penetrating lubricant to the threads of the ball joints.

4. Using pliers, remove the cotter pin from the nut that secures the pin to the steering knuckle arm.

5. With an open-end wrench by 22 mm we unscrew the nut that secures the ball joint pin to the steering knuckle arm.

6. From above from the engine compartment with a socket wrench by 22 mm with an extension we unscrew the nuts (having previously removed the cotter pins) fastening the side rod pins to the pendulum arm (for right traction) and to the steering knuckle (for left traction).

7. Using a puller, press out the end pins and remove the side rods.

8. Before disassembling the lateral tie rod, measure and record its length. This is necessary to ensure that the correct wheel alignment is not disturbed during assembly. Loosen the bolts of the coupling clamps and unscrew the tips.
We remove and disassemble the other side rod in the same way.
9. To remove the middle steering rod, remove the cotter pin and use a socket wrench by 22 mm using an extension from the engine compartment, unscrew the nuts.
10. If the pins of the lateral rod joints are disconnected from the pendulum arm and the steering gear coupling arm, then using a puller, press out the pins of the ball joints of the rod and remove it.

Attention! When performing the following operation (so as not to damage the threads) we unscrew the nuts until their ends coincide with the ends of the pins.
11. If the lateral rods are not disconnected from the pitman arm and pendulum arm eyes, the middle rod ball joint pins can be pressed out by knocking them out with a suitable rod A. We pre-place the stop B under the inner end of the lateral tie rod.

12. After pressing out the pins, unscrew the nuts and remove the middle steering rod.
Installation
1. Install the steering rods in the reverse order. After assembling and adjusting the side rod along the length, tighten the clamps.
The original is available on the website VazBook.ru
2. After installing the steering rods, it is necessary to check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles yourself (see "Wheel alignment angles - adjustment") or in a specialized workshop.
