The parking brake lever is connected to the rear wheel brake mechanisms by two cables. When the lever is raised to the upper position, the levers mounted on the rear shoes turn and begin to press on the spacer bars. At the same time, the shoes of the rear brake mechanisms move apart and fix the drum from turning.
