Gearbox — Checking the oil level (VAZ-2114)

We check the oil level in the gearbox during vehicle maintenance, as well as before each trip if there is an oil leak from the gearbox.

We carry out the check with the engine not running.

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the air filter housing (see "Air filter - removal and installation").

3. Remove the oil level indicator from the hole in the gearbox housing.



4. Wipe the oil off the indicator rod and install it back in place until it stops, then remove it. The oil level in the gearbox should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the indicator rod, otherwise bring the level up to the norm (see below, "Gearbox - Oil change").



5. Install the level indicator and air filter in place.
