To beam 10 (see fig. rear axle) the rear axle is attached to the gearbox 28, in which the main gear and differential are located. The leading 29 and driven 19 gears of the main gear are paired in terms of contact and noise, therefore, if one of them is damaged, both are replaced. Between the inner rings of the bearings 23 of the drive gear there is a spacer sleeve 22, which, deforming when the drive gear nut is tightened, provides a preload in its bearings.
An adjusting ring 21 is installed between the end face of the drive gear and the inner bearing, which determines the correct position of the drive gear relative to the driven gear.
The driven gear of the main gear is attached to the flange of the differential box 32, which rotates on two bearings 15. The preload in these bearings, as well as the gap between the teeth of the drive and driven gears, is regulated by nuts 14, wrapped in split bearing beds. Side gears 20 are installed in the cylindrical sockets of the differential box and rest on the box through support washers 31. By selecting the washers in thickness, a lateral clearance of 0–0.1 mm is established between the teeth of the satellites and side gears.
Axle shaft 1 with its inner end enters the splined hole of the side gear, and its outer end rests on a ball bearing 6, which is fixed on the half shaft with a locking ring 7. The half shaft bearing is sealed in the beam seat from the inside with a self-compressing gland 9, and outside - with a rubber ring sandwiched between the shield 12 brake and rear axle beam flange. The bearing is fixed in the seat of the beam by plate 11, which, together with the oil deflector 4 and the shield, is bolted to the beam flange.
