Replacing rear suspension rod bushings (VAZ-21061)

If the rear suspension rod bushings are worn out, you can install new rods with factory-pressed bushings. However, you can also replace the bushings yourself using a special tool or as shown below.



We knock out or press out the steel spacer sleeve from the hinge using a rod of a suitable diameter, for example, a bolt.



Remove the worn rubber bushing from the rod. To do this, the bushing can be cut from the inside with a hacksaw blade.



In a vice, we press a new rubber bushing into the rod, having previously lubricated it with a soap solution.

We also press a steel spacer sleeve into the vice.

We install the rear suspension parts in the reverse order.

To increase the service life of the rod joint bushings and shock absorbers, the suspension mounting nuts are finally tightened only when the vehicle is parked on a level surface and is fully loaded.
