1. Remove the rear door trim (see "Removal and installation the rear door trim").
2. Unscrew the left nut securing the tailgate lock to the door panel and remove the ground wires of the additional brake light and the tailgate wiper motor reducer.

3. Unscrew the second nut and remove the tailgate lock.
4. Install the lock in the reverse order of removal, if necessary, adjust its position using the lock.
5. If the latch of the lock does not enter the hole of the retainer when closing the door (a bang is heard and the door closes with great force), loosen the two mounting bolts and move the retainer in the desired direction. Then tighten the retainer mounting bolts.

6. If the door has vertical play in the closed position or closes with great effort, adjust the height of the retainer. To do this, unscrew the two fastening bolts and remove the retainer.

7. Remove the adjusting plates if there is play, or add them if the lock closes with great effort. Install the retainer and check the ease of closing the door.
