Removal the tailgate lock (VAZ-21214)

Remove the rear door sill trim and disconnect the lock drive cable (see Removal the rear door lock drive).



Using a 10 mm head, unscrew the two bolts securing the lock housing…



… and remove the lock.

To access the handle mount and the lock retainer, remove the rear door trim (see Removal the rear door trim).

Using an 8 mm socket, unscrew the two nuts securing the rear door handle…





… and remove the handle.



Using an 8 mm head, unscrew the two nuts securing the lock retainer…



… and we take it off.

When installing the retainer, we adjust the position of its eye relative to the lock, moving the retainer left and right along the grooves of the mounting holes (see photo 5).

We adjust the depth of the door closing by sliding the lock body along the grooves of the mounting holes (see photo 2).
