Helpful Hint: The tailgate is quite heavy and bulky, so we recommend removing and installing the tailgate hinges with an assistant.
1. Remove the screws securing the trim of the right rear body pillar…

2. …and remove the upholstery.

3. Similarly, remove the trim of the left rear body pillar.
4. Carefully, so as not to damage the upholstery, pry up the three clips at the rear of the roof panel…

5. …and remove the clips from the trim holders.

6. Remove the three trim holders from the holes in the roof panel.

7. Pry it off with a screwdriver..

8. …disconnect the right tailgate stop from the upper ball joint.

9. Similarly, holding the door, detach the upper fastening of the left stop.
10. While holding the door, carefully bend back the rear part of the roof trim and unscrew the two nuts securing the left rear door hinge to the roof panel.

Note: This operation must be performed from inside the vehicle.
11. Similarly, unscrew the two nuts securing the right rear door hinge to the roof panel.
12. To gain access to the bolts securing the hinges to the tailgate, remove the protective rubber tube for the additional brake light and windshield wiper motor from the door panel, then move the door to the side.

13. Holding the door, unscrew the two bolts securing the left hinge to the rear door panel…

14. …and remove the left loop.

15. Remove the right tailgate hinge in the same way.
16. Install the tailgate hinges in the reverse order of removal. If necessary, replace damaged headliner holders and their clips.
