We replace the shock absorber if it starts leaking fluid or if it loses its ability to dampen vibrations (car rocking while driving). Shock absorbers should be replaced on both sides, even if one of them is in good condition.
Rear shock absorber parts: 1 - shock absorber (2101-2915402-04); 2 - washer (2101-2915544-01); 3 - shock absorber cushion (2101-2906231); 4 - spacer sleeve (2101-2915546); 5 - bolt M12x1.25x140 (15542021); 6 - nut M12x1.25 (16101511); 7 - spacer sleeve (2101-291555); 8 - spacer washer (2101-2915547-10)
Removal
1. Place the vehicle on an inspection pit or overpass (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair"). When performing this work on a horizontal platform, which is less convenient, remove the wheel (see "Wheel - replacement") and use a jack to lift the rear axle from the side of the shock absorber being replaced.
2. Key by 19 mm we unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the shock absorber to the rear axle bracket, holding the bolt from turning with a wrench of the same size.
3. Remove the bolt from the bracket lugs and remove the spacer and distance bushings from it.
4. Key by 19 mm we unscrew the self-locking nut that secures the shock absorber rod to the body and remove the shock absorber.
Installation
1. Install new rubber bushings into the shock absorber lugs.
2. Installation of the shock absorber is performed in the reverse order.
We replace the second shock absorber in the same way.
