To complete the job you will need a snap ring puller.
Examination
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Check the reliability of the steering column fixation (see "Steering - checking technical condition").
Recommendation: If the force developed by the locking mechanism is not sufficient, adjust it.
Adjustment
1. Remove the lower decorative trim of the steering column (see "Decorative steering column trims - removal and installation").
2. Using a puller, remove the retaining ring of the adjustment mechanism bolt.
3. Move the lever on the bolt one slot clockwise.
4. Check the reliability of the steering column fixation. If necessary, move the lever one more spline clockwise.

5. Install the bolt retaining ring in place and once again make sure that it is securely fixed by the steering shaft mechanism. If necessary, repeat the adjustment.
6. After completing the adjustment, install the steering column cover back into place.
