Removing
1. Disconnect the tie rod ends from the levers of the front suspension struts (see "Tie rod ends - replacement").
2. We unscrew and remove the coupling bolt of the lower flange of the elastic coupling of the steering shaft, and open the flange with a large slotted screwdriver (see "Steering column - removal and installation").
3. Ring wrench or socket wrench by 13 mm unscrew the two nuts of the bracket of the right fastening of the steering mechanism to the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
4. Remove the steering bracket from the studs.
5. Similarly, remove the bracket of the left mounting of the steering mechanism.
6. Slightly shift the steering mechanism forward and remove the drive gear shaft from engagement with the lower flange of the steering shaft coupling.
7. Turning the steering mechanism with the drive gear shaft up, remove it from the engine compartment through the opening in the left mudguard.
Installation
We install the steering mechanism in the reverse order, while the assistant in the passenger compartment puts the lower coupling flange on the steering gear drive shaft, aligning the flat with the slot (see "Steering column - removal and installation").
