Removing
1. We prepare the car for work and remove the terminal from the negative terminal of the battery (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the decorative lining of the steering column (see "Decorative overlays of a steering column - removal and installation").
3. Remove the steering column switches together with the connector (see "Steering column switches - removal, check and installation").
4. Disconnect the ignition switch wiring harness pads (see "Switch (lock) ignition - removal and installation").
5. socket wrench by 13 mm unscrew the coupling bolt of the lower flange of the coupling.
6. Open the coupling flange with a slotted screwdriver.
7. Using tongs or pliers, unscrew the bolt with a tear-off head for fastening the steering column bracket.
Tip: If you cannot loosen the bolt, you can loosen it with a narrow chisel. To do this, it is necessary to rest the chisel blade against the edge of the bolt head and apply light blows to the chisel with a hammer. The chisel should not cut the head of the bolt, but only turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen it.
8. We remove the bolt with the fixing plate put on it.
9. Similarly, we unscrew the second bolt with a detachable head for fastening the steering column bracket.
10. Key by 13 mm unscrew the two nuts securing the steering column bracket.
11. We lower the bracket down and, pulling it towards ourselves, remove the coupling flange from the splines of the steering gear shaft.
Installation
1. There is a flat on the drive gear shaft. We put the coupling flange on the steering gear drive shaft in a position where the slot of the coupling tip coincides with the central longitudinal line of the flat.
2. We wrap (without delay) coupling flange pinch bolt.
3. We put the steering column on the studs and wrap the bracket nuts.
4. Wrap (without finally tightening) two special bolts with detachable heads, having previously installed fixing plates under the bolts.
Attention! To avoid violating the safety properties of the steering column, do not install conventional washers instead of special plates under the tear-off bolts. The protruding part of the plate must be located in the slot of the bracket.
Note: In the absence of special tear-off bolts, M6 bolts 20 mm long can be used.
5. Tighten the coupling bolt of the elastic coupling flange, two bolts (before head breaking) and two nuts securing the steering column bracket.
6. We connect the blocks of the wires of the ignition switch (see "Switch (lock) ignition - removal and installation").
7. We install the steering column switches assembly with the connector on the steering column and connect the wire blocks to the switches (see "Steering column switches - removal, check and installation").
8. Install the steering wheel (see "Steering wheel - removal and installation").
9. Install the steering column trim (see "Decorative overlays of a steering column - removal and installation").
10. We check the operation of the sound signal, switches and adjust the steering column in terms of tilt.
