Ball bearing 7 must rotate freely, without jamming, there must be no wear or signs of jamming on the surface of the rings and balls. The needles and race of roller bearing 5 must not have wear or damage. If there is the slightest doubt, the bearings are replaced with new ones.
Check the condition and fixation of the covers 1 and caps 16. If they have cracks, tears and wear of the sealing edges, replace them with new ones. If the cap 16 is not held on the end 18 of the rod, replace the ring 17. Check the condition of the spherical sphere of the inner end 21, the sphere of the ball joint 20, the stop 22 of the rod and the spring 23. If the spherical surfaces are worn or damaged, replace the parts.
Check the condition of the ball joints of the rod ends for axial and radial clearance. If there is play in the ball joint or dirt or sand has gotten into it, or if corrosion appears on the ball pin and the travel of the thrust insert of the outer joint is fully used, replace the joint together with the rod end 18.
Check whether there is a noticeable radial clearance between the support bushing and the rack, as well as the fit of the bushing in the crankcase. If the radial clearance is noticeable or the bushing is damaged, replace it. Check the condition of the intermediate shaft cardan joints, paying attention to the condition of the splines at the lower and upper forks of the cardan joints. Sealing rings 25, 10, 15 of the rack stop, gear bearing nuts are replaced with new ones regardless of their technical condition. Clamps 2 and lock washer 12 are also used once.
The dimensions of the main mating parts are given in Table 16.
