Ball bearing 7 must rotate freely, without jamming, there must be no wear and signs of jamming on the surface of the rings and balls. The needles and roller bearing race 5 must not be worn or damaged. At the slightest doubt, the bearings are replaced with new ones.
Check the condition and fixation of covers 1 and caps 16. If they have cracks, tears and wear of the sealing edges, replace them with new ones. If the cap 16 is not held on the tip 18 of the thrust, replace the ring 17. Check the condition of the ball sphere of the inner tip 21, the sphere of the ball bearing 20, the stop 22 of the thrust and the spring 23. If the spherical surfaces are worn or damaged, replace the parts.
The condition of the ball joints of the tie rod ends is checked by axial and radial clearance. If play is felt in the ball joint or dirt, sand get into it, as well as if corrosion appears on the ball pin and when the thrust bearing stroke of the outer joint is fully used, the joint assembly with the thrust tip 18 is replaced.
Check whether there is a noticeable radial clearance between the support sleeve and the rack, as well as the fit of the sleeve in the crankcase. If radial clearance is felt or the bushing is damaged, replace it. Check the condition of the universal joints of the intermediate shaft, paying attention to the condition of the splines at the lower and upper forks of the universal joints. O-rings 25, 10, 15 of the rail stop, gear bearing nuts are replaced with new ones, regardless of their technical condition. Clamps 2 and lock washer 12 also have single use.
