If the above faults occur, first try adjusting the throttle actuator (see "Adjusting the throttle actuator") or replace the cable (see "Replacing the throttle cable").
If this does not produce a positive result, replace the throttle body.
You will need: a socket wrench (head) "on 13", a screwdriver with a cross-shaped blade.
Warnings! Do not unscrew the throttle valve mounting screws 1. If they are then screwed in and locked poorly, the unscrewed screw may fall into the engine cylinder and cause it to fail. The throttle valve position is adjusted at the factory, so it is not recommended to touch the adjusting screw 2 of the throttle valve.
1. Disconnect the wire from the "–" terminal of the battery.
2. Drain the cooling system (see "Replacing the coolant").
3. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the coolant supply 1 and outlet 2 hoses, the crankcase ventilation hose 3 and the air supply pipe 4 from the throttle assembly.
Note: On vehicles with closed-loop fuel injection, remove the canister purge hose from the lower throttle body.
4. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle assembly (see "Replacing the throttle cable").
5. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the throttle position sensor…
6. …and from the idle speed controller.
7. Unscrew the two nuts securing the throttle assembly to the receiver.
8. Remove the throttle assembly from the studs on the receiver. Note that there are two washers under each nut (one flat and one spring). Remove the gasket from the receiver.
9. If the throttle position sensor and idle speed control valve are not installed on the new unit when replacing the throttle assembly, replace them from the old unit. To do this, unscrew the two screws that secure them.
10. Replace the damaged foam ring installed under the throttle position sensor.
11. Clean the dirty throttle assembly with carburetor cleaning fluid, after removing the sensor and regulator from it. Also clean the dirty regulator and sensor (it is prohibited to use solvents to clean them).
12. Install a new sealing gasket between the throttle body and the receiver.
13. Install the throttle assembly in the reverse order of removal. Adjust the throttle actuator (see "Adjusting the throttle actuator").
14. Fill the cooling system with coolant and check for leaks (see "Replacing the coolant").
