You will need: key «for 8», box key «at 13», screwdriver, coolant, clean rag.
Warnings! Change the coolant only when the engine is cold.
The coolant is toxic, so be careful when handling it.
When starting the engine, the expansion tank cap must be closed.
1. Install the car on a flat horizontal platform. If the site is sloping, park the vehicle so that the front of the vehicle is higher than the rear.
2. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «-» battery.
3. Open the heater tap by moving the tap control lever to the right as far as it will go.
4. To gain access to the drain plug 1 on the engine block, remove the ignition module 2 together with the bracket (see «Removal and installation of the ignition module»).
5. Turn away a stopper of a broad tank.
6. Install a container under the engine and unscrew the drain plug on the cylinder block.
After draining the coolant, wipe off any traces of coolant from the cylinder block.
7. Place a container under the radiator, unscrew the drain plug on the radiator and wait until the coolant is completely drained from the system.
8. Wrap stoppers on the block of cylinders and a radiator.
9. To prevent the formation of an air pocket when filling the cooling system with liquid, loosen the clamp and disconnect the coolant supply hose from the throttle assembly heating fitting. Pour fluid into the expansion tank until it emerges from the hose.
Reinstall the hose.
10. Completely fill the engine cooling system by pouring coolant into the expansion tank until its level is at the mark «MAX». Wrap a stopper of a broad tank.
Warning! Screw the cap on the expansion tank tightly.
The expansion tank is under pressure when the engine is running, so coolant may leak from under the cap loosely or the cap may break.
11. Install the ignition module in the reverse order of removal.
12. Connect the wire to the terminal «-» battery.
13. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature (before turning on the fan).
After that, stop the engine, check the coolant level and, if necessary, top up to the mark «MAX» on the expansion tank.
Warning! When the engine is running, watch the coolant temperature on the gauge. If the arrow has moved to the red zone, and the fan does not turn on, turn on the heater and check how much air flows through it.
If heated air flows through the heater, the fan is most likely defective; if cold, it means that an air lock has formed in the engine cooling system.
Then stop the engine. To remove the air lock, let the engine cool down and unscrew the cap of the expansion tank (be careful: if the engine is not completely cool, the coolant may splash out of the reservoir).
Disconnect the coolant supply hose from the throttle assembly heating fitting and fill the expansion tank with liquid to the norm.
