Brake light switch — position adjustment (VAZ-2104)

The free travel of the brake pedal with the engine off should be within 3-5 mm. This value is achieved by adjusting the position of the brake light switch. If the switch is close to the pedal stop, it will not return to its original position, which will result in incomplete release of the wheels and heating of the brake mechanisms. The switch must be installed so that its buffer touches the pedal stop.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the vehicle for operations (see "Preparing a car for maintenance and repair").

2. Disconnect the wire blocks 1 from the switch.



3. Key on 19 mm we loosen the lock nut 2 and, by rotating the switch 4, we achieve that it touches the pedal stop 3.

4. Tighten the lock nut and connect the wire blocks in random order.

If the incomplete release of the brake mechanisms cannot be eliminated by adjusting the position of the brake light switch, it is necessary to check the amount of protrusion of the piston rod head relative to the plane on the body of the brake booster (see "Vacuum brake booster - replacement").
