Pressing out the axle shaft bearing retaining ring using the A.74108/R tool
1 – device A.74108/R; 2 – half-shaft
The axle bearing retaining ring must be removed and installed using a hydraulic press only.
1. Using the half rings of the A.74108/R device, encircle the bearing and install the axle shaft vertically so that the half rings rest on the thrust ring.
2. Place the axle shaft under a press and apply gradually increasing force to the splined end of the axle shaft until the bearing retaining ring is removed. Do not reuse the axle shaft bearing retaining ring, but replace it with a new one.
3. Check that the axle shaft seating surface is free of scratches or damage; if necessary, replace the axle shaft with a new one.
