Checking the force with which the axle bearing retaining ring is pressed out using the A.95601/R device and a torque wrench
1 – indicator; 2 – half-shaft; 3 – device A.95601/R; 4 – torque wrench; 5 – ball bearing; 6 – bearing retaining ring
1. Place the axle shaft vertically, resting its flange on ring 4 (see fig. Pressing in the axle shaft bearing retaining ring) (A.74107/1R) devices.
2. Install the axle shaft bearing oil deflector and bearing mounting plate with gasket, previously connected to each other with two screws, onto the axle shaft; install the axle shaft ball bearing.

3. Insert the new locking ring into a special holder 7, place it in the oven and heat the ring to approximately 300°C so that when it is pressed onto the axle shaft its temperature is 220–240°.
4. Press the locking ring onto the axle shaft using mandrel 1 on a press with a force of no more than 58800 N (6000 kgf) so that the inner bearing ring is clamped between the locking ring and the flange of the axle shaft.
5. After pressing, make sure that the ring does not shift under an axial load of 19,600 N (2,000 kgf). For this purpose, install the axle shaft assembly on the A.95601/R device (see fig. Checking the force with which the axle shaft bearing retaining ring is pressed out using the A.95601/R device and a torque wrench) and clamp the locking ring in a special vice.
6. Place the indicator leg, with a division value of 0.01 mm, on the flange of the axle shaft. After setting the indicator pointer to "0", apply the specified axial load, creating a tightening torque of 78.4–83.3 N·mm (8–8.5 kgf·m) on the screw of the device with a torque wrench. The screw rests against the end of the axle shaft through the ball. In this case, not even the smallest gap should appear between the locking ring and the inner ring of the bearing.
7. After removing the load and unscrewing the screw of the device, the indicator arrow should return to the zero position; this proves that there has been no shift between the locking ring and the axle shaft. If the indicator needle does not return to the zero position, the locking ring has shifted and the axle shaft assembly must be replaced with a new one.
