Measurement of the free play of the axle shaft with the removed wheel and brake drum
1. Remove the caps from the rear wheels and loosen the bolts of their fastening.
2. Chock the front wheels and jack up the rear axle.
3. Release the parking brake and place the shift lever in neutral.
4. Remove wheels and brake drums.
5. Screw tool 02.7834.9504 to the axle shaft (2) (1 - indicator).
6. Pass the indicator leg extension 1 through one of the two large holes of the axle shaft until it stops against the brake shield or oil deflector and fix the indicator.
7. Measure with an indicator, applying a force of about 49 N to the axle shaft flange (5 kgf) in both directions along the axis of the rear axle. The free play must not exceed 0.7 mm.
Measurement of the free play of the axle shaft without removing the wheel and brake drum
1. Attach tool 02.7834.9504 using one of the holes for the wheel bolts.
2. Pass the indicator extension leg through another hole for the wheel bolt.
3. The force applied to the wheel along the axis of the rear axle should be about 98 N (10 kgf), axle free play up to 0.7 mm.
4. Further measurement is carried out in the same way as described above.
