In 2000, AvtoVAZ produced 4.1% more cars than in 1999, of which 99 thousand were exported.
Industrial production of cars of the "tenth" model family began in 1996, and some of them entered production only in 2000.
The significant increase in the number of produced "tenth" models against the background of other models speaks of the prospects of these models. And if you chose this model, you were not mistaken.
In 2001, AvtoVAZ's plans are even more ambitious: to produce more than 750 thousand cars (including 130 thousand for export). "Tens" are planned to be produced in 220,000 units. About 2/3 of them will have neutralizers, the fleet of VAZ-2112 cars is growing, the production of "tens" with carburetor engines is not planned. Many countries of the world buy our "tens", and even Germany with its great automobile potential sells them on its market for 8 thousand dollars.
The numbers that designate the car model are based not simply on the numbers of the natural series, but on the semantic meaning of each number.
Each model has a four-digit index based on three classification features. The first digit denotes the class. There are four classes for passenger cars, which differ in engine displacement:
- 1 class - especially small - up to 1099 cm³,
- class 2 - small - from 1100 to 1799 cm³,
- class 3 - medium - from 1800 to 3499 cm³,
- class 4 – large – from 3500 to 5000 cm³ and more.
The second digit is the type of vehicle: 1 - passenger car, 2 - bus, 3 - truck, 4 - tractor, 5 - dump truck, 6 - tanker, 7 - van, 8 - reserve, 9 - special vehicle.
The third and fourth digits from 1 to 99 are the serial number of this model.
The model may be subject to partial modification. As a result, modifications appear that differ from the model itself, then a fifth digit may appear.
For example, VAZ-2112 means:
- 2 - small class (subcompact car).
- 1 - passenger car.
- 12 is the serial number of the model.
