When storing the car at low temperatures in an unheated room, remove the battery and radio and store them separately; Drain the fluid from the windshield and headlight washer reservoir. If the cooling system is filled with water, then drain it.
If the car is stored in a room where sunlight penetrates, cover the body and tires with a cover made of a moisture-permeable material. The use of covers made of waterproof materials (tarpaulin, film, etc.), which do not have ventilation holes in the area of the windshield and rear windows, contributes to the condensation of moisture on the surface of the body, which, if exposed for a long time, can damage the body paint.
If the car is stored in an open parking lot under a cover, then the cover should not be in contact with the painted surfaces of the body so as not to damage the paint (blistering, peeling). For normal ventilation of painted surfaces, place soft pads at least 20 mm high between the cover and the body.
When preparing the vehicle for long-term storage:
1. Wash the car and dry the body. Remove corrosion. Touch up the surface with damaged paint. Rub the body with wax paste and polish.
2. Start the engine and warm it up. Stop the engine, drain the gasoline from the fuel tank using a hose with a rubber bulb.
3. Start the engine again and let it idle until all the gasoline from the carburetor and fuel pump has been used up.
4. On the engine warmed up in this way, turn out the candles, pour 25-30 g of engine oil heated to a temperature of 70-80°C into each cylinder, turn the crankshaft 10-15 turns and wrap the candles.
5. Oiled tape (paper or fabric) seal:
- hole in the air intake pipe of the air filter housing;
- muffler outlet pipe;
- fuel tank vent hole.
6. Lubricate the front driveshaft flange spline with grease.
7. Cover the engine with a tarpaulin, film, or oil-paper to keep out dust.
8. Clean the car's electrical wiring from dirt and wipe it dry.
9. Lubricate all chrome-plated and unpainted exterior parts of the car with NG-208 conservation grease.
10. Put the car on supports so that the wheels are raised above the supporting surface. Install stands under the special brackets located next to the sockets for the jack lever. Reduce tire pressure to 0.05 MPa (0.5 kgf/cm2).
11. Check the completeness of the driver's tool, lubricate it with conservation grease and wrap it with oiled paper.
12. Cover the car with a cover.
When servicing the vehicle during storage (once every two months) do the following:
1. Remove the cover and inspect the vehicle. Clean and paint the areas affected by corrosion on the painted surface, clean and cover the chrome-plated surfaces with nitrocellulose varnish.
2. Turn out candles, include the first transfer, turn a cranked shaft on 10-15 turns and again wrap candles.
3. Turn the steering wheel 1-1.5 turns in each direction. Actuate (3-5 times) brake and clutch pedals, accelerator pedal and parking brake.
