To carry out the work you will need an inspection pit or overpass.
Removal
1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the cable equalizer from the adjusting rod (see "Parking brake cables - removal and installation").
3. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the rubber protective cover from the adjusting rod.
4. Remove the decorative trim of the floor tunnel (see "Floor Tunnel Overlay - Removal and Installation").
5. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw securing the front bracket for the parking brake indicator light switch.
6. With a socket wrench by 10 mm we unscrew the two bolts of the rear mounting bracket of the parking brake indicator light switch.
7. Remove the bracket and disconnect the wire tip from the switch terminal.
8. With a socket wrench by 10 mm we unscrew the two remaining bolts securing the parking brake lever bracket.
9. Remove the parking brake lever assembly with the bracket and adjusting rod from the vehicle.
10. To remove the adjusting rod, use pliers to remove the cotter pin from the axle pin. Remove the washer and rod from the pin.
Installation
1. Install the rod and washer on the lever and secure them with a cotter pin.

2. Install the lever and switch bracket in the reverse order.
3. Apply plastic grease to the threaded part of the adjusting rod, install the equalizer, adjusting nut and lock nut on the rod.
4. Adjust the stroke of the parking brake lever (see "Parking brake - adjustment").
