If the parking brake lever does not lock in the selected position, check the pawl spring first. If the spring is good, replace the lever.
The car has a non-separable parking brake lever 1. If the lever is damaged, it must be replaced as an assembly. Rod 2 must be replaced if the thread is damaged.
1. Remove the equalizer from the rod (see subsection 7.4.1.).
2. From inside the passenger compartment, unscrew the two mounting bolts on one side of the lever.
3. Please note: spring washers are installed under the bolt heads.
4. Move the carpet to access the two arm mounting bolts on the other side and unscrew them.
5. Remove the lever from the car.
6. Remove the retaining ring from the pull pin.
7. Take out your finger.
8. Remove the rod from the lever.
9. Replace a torn or loose traction boot (from below the car).
10. Assemble and install the parking brake lever in the reverse order of removal. After installing the lever, adjust the parking brake.
11. To replace the pawl spring, unscrew the button from the lever (without removing the lever from the car) And...
12....remove the spring. Install a new spring and wrap the button.
