Notes: Operation shown on a vehicle equipped with a multiport fuel injection system without feedback (no exhaust gas converter). Fastening the exhaust pipe to the exhaust gas converter, see «Replacing the catalytic converter.»
You will need: screwdriver, socket head «at 13», knob, extension cord, key «at 13».
1. Put the car on a lift.
2. Turn away two nuts of fastening of a reception pipe to an arm under the bottom of the car. Then turn out two bolts of fastening of an arm to a body and remove an arm.
3. Bend back the ends of the locking plates of the nuts securing the front pipe to the exhaust manifold.
4. Turn away four nuts of fastening of a reception pipe to a final collector.
5. Turn away two nuts and remove a collar.
6. Separate the exhaust pipe of the muffler and the resonator pipe by removing the sealing ring. Replace damaged ring. Remove the intake pipe.
7. Replace torn or burnt down pipe flange gasket.
8. Check the flatness of the downpipe flange. To do this, draw the edge of a metal ruler along the surface of the flange. If in some places the ruler does not fit snugly, it means that the flange is warped and the front pipe must be replaced.
9. Establish a reception pipe of the muffler in an order, the return to removal. At installation replace nuts of fastening of a reception pipe to a final collector and a laying of a reception pipe. Tighten nuts of fastening of a reception pipe to a final collector the moment of 21–26 Нм (2.1–2.6 kgf·m).
10. After installing the pipe, lock the pipe nuts by bending the edges of the locking plates.
