Helpful Hints: Check the exhaust system periodically. If the exhaust system is noisy, check for leaks. To do this, start the engine and inspect the entire system. By running your hand over the possible leaks without touching the components, you will immediately feel the gas leak. If necessary, replace rusted and burnt components.
Warnings! Before repairing the exhaust system, let it cool down, as it heats up to a high temperature during engine operation. Exhaust gases are toxic, poisoning by them occurs unnoticed, so before starting the engine in the garage, be sure to open the gate!
On cars with distributed fuel injection with feedback between the exhaust pipe and the resonator, a catalytic converter of exhaust gases is installed. The use of a converter significantly reduces emissions of hydrocarbons, carbon oxides and nitrogen into the atmosphere. When exhaust gases pass through the converter, most of the hydrocarbons are converted into water vapor, carbon monoxide - into carbon dioxide (carbon dioxide), nitrogen oxides - into nitrogen. For the neutralizer to work effectively, a very precise ratio of air and fuel supplied to the engine cylinders is necessary, therefore neutralizers are installed only on cars equipped with a fuel injection system.

The catalytic converter consists of two ceramic blocks with catalysts in microchannels. The blocks are installed in a non-separable metal housing.
The arrangement of the exhaust system components on a vehicle with a distributed fuel injection system without feedback: 1 – exhaust system suspension cushion; 2 – muffler; 3 – resonator; 4 – intake pipe
