The speedometer drive cable is connected at one end to the drive gearbox on the gearbox, and at the other end to the speedometer mechanism in the instrument cluster.
1. Pull the instrument cluster out of the instrument panel to access the speedometer cable (see subsection 8.6.1).
2. Loosen the speedometer cable nut (if the nut is too tight, carefully loosen it with pliers) And...
3.... Disconnect the speedometer cable from the instrument cluster.
4. Loosen the nut securing the speedometer cable from the drive on the gearbox (if the nut is too tight, carefully loosen it with pliers) And...
5.... disconnect the cable from the drive.
6. Pry off the speedometer cable seal with a screwdriver and...
7.... remove the seal from the hole in the front end shield.
8. Before installing, lubricate the speedometer drive cable with gear oil, pouring oil into the sheath (until oil appears on the other side of the cable).
9. Install the speedometer cable in the reverse order of removal.
