Numbering of contacts on the block (for testing instrument combinations)
The fuel and coolant temperature gauges in combination are attached to the mounting plate with three nuts.
Checking the coolant temperature sensor and gauge
The pointer needle does not deviate from the beginning of the scale, regardless of the temperature of the coolant.
Disconnect the wire from the pointer sensor and connect it to "weight". Turn on the ignition:
- the pointer arrow deviated - the sensor is faulty (replace);
- the pointer arrow does not deviate - continue troubleshooting.
Take out a combination of devices from the panel and disconnect a red connecting block from it. Wire pin 2 of the combination socket to "weight". Turn on the ignition:
- the arrow of the pointer deviated - a break in the wire connecting the pointer and the sensor;
- the arrow of the pointer has not deviated - replace the pointer.
If the arrow of the new pointer does not deviate, damage should be sought in the instrument cluster (in the circuit board or solder pads to the board). Repair or replace circuit board or instrument cluster.
The pointer is in the red zone of the scale, regardless of the temperature of the coolant
Disconnect the wire from the pointer sensor. Turn on the ignition:
- the pointer arrow deviated to the beginning of the scale - the sensor is faulty (replace);
- the arrow of the pointer does not deviate - check if there is a short circuit to "mass" wire connecting the sensor to the pointer. If there is no closure, the pointer is faulty (replace).
Checking the sensor and fuel gauge
The pointer needle does not deviate from the beginning of the scale, regardless of the amount of gasoline in the fuel tank
Fold down the rear seat and remove the indicator sensor access cover. Disconnect the gray-red wire from the pointer sensor and connect it to "weight". Turn on the ignition:
- the pointer arrow deviated - the sensor is faulty (replace);
- the pointer arrow does not deviate - continue troubleshooting.
Remove the instrument cluster from the panel and disconnect the red block from it. Connect with a wire pin 1 of the combination block to "weight". Turn on the ignition:
- the pointer arrow deviated to the end of the scale - a break in the wire connecting the sensor to the pointer;
- the pointer needle does not deviate - replace the pointer. If the needle of the new pointer also does not deviate from the beginning of the scale, replace the circuit board or instrument cluster.
The pointer is at the end of the scale, regardless of the amount of gasoline in the fuel tank
Disconnect the grey-red wire from the pointer sensor. Turn on the ignition:
- the pointer arrow deviated to the beginning of the scale - the sensor is faulty (replace);
- the arrow of the pointer does not deviate - the pointer is faulty (replace).
The speedometer is attached to the instrument cluster housing with two screws with sealing holes in the heads.
1. Remove the instrument cluster from the car (see subsection 8.6.1).
2. Gently bend the spring latches of the frame and...
3.... remove the frame with the protective glass from the instrument cluster housing.
4. Unscrew the three nuts securing the pointer, remove the flat washers and...
5.... remove the pointer assembly with the scale from the instrument cluster housing.
6. To replace the speedometer, unscrew the two screws securing the speedometer scale and...
7.... remove the plate-limiter of the speedometer needle travel.
8. Remove the speedometer scale.
9. Unscrew the two screws securing the speedometer and carefully remove it from the combination housing. Installation of devices spend in sequence, return to removal.
