When replacing the belt, it is necessary to brake the car with a parking brake and turn on the fourth or fifth gear in the gearbox. Remove the front toothed belt guard.
Loosen the alternator drive belt and remove it from the pulleys. After unscrewing the mounting bolt, remove the alternator drive pulley from the crankshaft and replace the pulley mounting bolt.
Place the gear lever in neutral position and turn the crankshaft clockwise until the mark on the flywheel, visible in the clutch housing hatch, is against the middle division of the scale (rice. thirty). In this case, the mark on the camshaft pulley must be against the alignment mark on the back cover of the toothed belt (see fig. 27).
Loosen the nut securing the tensioner axle and turn it to a position in which the belt will be as loose as possible. Remove belt from pulleys.
Put a new belt on the crankshaft pulley and, pulling both branches of the belt, put the left branch on the coolant pump pulley and put it behind the tension roller. Put the belt on the camshaft pulley and slightly tighten it with the tension roller, turning its axis counterclockwise. When installing the belt, sharp bends must be avoided.
Turn the crankshaft two turns clockwise and check that the timing marks on the camshaft pulley and the rear belt cover match (see fig. 27), as well as whether the mark on the flywheel is against the middle division of the scale.
If the marks do not match, then repeat the operation to install the belt. If they match, then unscrew the bolt from the crankshaft, install the alternator drive pulley and secure it with a bolt with a washer, finally tightening it with a torque of 10.5 kgf / m.
Adjust the timing belt tension and install the front protective cover. Put on the alternator drive belt and adjust its tension as indicated in chapter «Generator». Check and, if necessary, adjust the ignition timing (see chapter «Ignition system»).
