Disconnect the wire from the "–" terminal of the battery.
The starter is located under the cooling system thermostat and is secured with a bolt and nut to the clutch housing.

4. Remove the connector block 2 from terminal 1 of the starter solenoid relay.
5. Unscrew the nut and...
6....the bolt securing the starter to the clutch housing. Remove the starter from the vehicle.
7. Check the condition of the flywheel ring gear (there should be no chipping or nicks on the teeth of the crown) and the bushings of the front end of the anchor shaft. Install the starter in the reverse order of removal.
