Scheme for checking the tension of the pump drive belt
Belt tension is checked by deflection between the alternator and pump pulleys or between the pump and crankshaft pulleys. At normal belt tension, deflection A under a force of 98 N (10 kgf) should be within 10–15 mm, and deflection B should be within 12–17 mm.
To increase belt tension, loosen the alternator fastening nuts, move it away from the engine and tighten the nuts.
